I was in a dilemna and choose to make a memory over a nice image taken at the worst time of day. So, I thought I would use these as a teaching tool.
FYI: the best time to take pictures is early morning (8-10am) or late afternoon (1-2 hours before sunset).
The worst time to take picutures is at 12 noon on a bright sunny day. There are tools to use to help with this such a nice portable diffuser which acts as a "cloud" to diffuse some of the harsh light.
The peach trees are in full bloom now. I had planned to take some pictures but of all days, Tennyson decided to take an extra long nap. I am not complaining about that! I was on my way to pick up my boys from school with 10 minutes to spare and it was 11:20am and not a cloud in the sky and very windy. I knew the images would not be great but I went for it anyway. I faced her with her back to the sun and made sure there were no strong shadows on her face, exposed the image for her face and the background is just extremely blown out. She has almost white blode hair so that did not help matters. Thank you CA family for her outfit!
When taking pictures I try my best to look at the details. For example necklace pendants turned correctly, whispy hairs, etc...I failed misrably in this image b/c her hair was parted on the opposite side of the wind, and the blouse blew off her shoulder.
