Life in God's Country

Today was opening day of dove season.    Braxton was so excited about going to shoot with granddaddy and Asher was looking forward to being the 'bird dog' and of course playing with his cousins.  Tennyson is happy whereever she is and proves to be our little 'scout'.
We began the day by feeding and taking pictures of the snakes.  Tennyson has transitioned from touching the snakes with one finger to holding and loving them.

Granddaddy picked up Braxton and they headed to the farm and took their spot in the field.  According to granddaddy, Braxton has quite the shot.  He managed to hit with his BB gun one dove which hit the ground and then took flight, one cricket, one butterfly he took down mid-flight and a bunch of tin cans.  He did gain respect for a 20 gauge shotgun but really what more could a 7 year old boy ask for???!!!

Asher had fun jumping on the hay bails.  This brought back a lot of childhood memories.
He was one dirty little boy when we left.

Tennyson was quite intrigued by the doves.
Sutton & Tennyson had fun playing while the others hunted.

Mother brought yummy Chocolate Chip Cookies for everyone to enjoy.
Grandma Thompson enjoyed watching the children play, the dove come in and reminiscing.

  1. That's awesome! Life is so different here in Kansas City. It is so huge and metropolis like so I love seeing your pictures of back home. They are beautiful.
