Easter 2010

After worship, we came home and took a nice afternooon nap, then headed over to Grandaddy's and MaNa's house to meet Aunt Marilyn, Uncle Mike and cousins Matthew and Mark. We all had fun hiding and hunting easter eggs.  Mother had prepared a nice supper and that rounded up our Easter Sunday.

Bill riding Braxton's bike! What is that saying??...Boys don't grow up they just get bigger!!!

One of very few family pictures of us.

Braxton is teaching Tennyson to hunt for eggs.
Braxton, Asher & Tennyson were counting their eggs to see who got the most.
Tennyson relaxing in the chair after playing hard.

I briefly caught up with Asher to capture this image.  I was not so lucky with Braxton.  Those boys have so much energy!

A memory vs correct exposure

I was in a dilemna and choose to make a memory over a nice image taken at the worst time of day.  So, I thought I would use these as a teaching tool.

FYI: the best time to take pictures is early morning (8-10am) or late afternoon (1-2 hours before sunset).
The worst time to take picutures is at 12 noon on a bright sunny day.  There are tools to use to help with this such a nice portable diffuser which acts as a "cloud" to diffuse some of the harsh light.

The peach trees are in full bloom now.  I had planned to take some pictures but of all days, Tennyson decided to take an extra long nap. I am not complaining about that! I was on my way to pick up my boys from school with 10 minutes to spare and it was 11:20am and not a cloud in the sky and very windy. I knew the images would not be great but I went for it anyway. I faced her with her back to the sun and made sure there were no strong shadows on her face, exposed the image for her face and the background is just extremely blown out.  She has almost white blode hair so that did not help matters.  Thank you CA family for her outfit!

When taking pictures I try my best to look at the details. For example necklace pendants turned correctly, whispy hairs, etc...I failed misrably in this image b/c her hair was parted on the opposite side of the wind, and the blouse blew off her shoulder.

All he wants are his two front teeth....

Braxton lost his second whistling tooth on March 24, 2010.  He loves to whitle so it has been frustrating for him.  He lad already gone to bed and got up with it bothering  him and Mark tied a peice of dental floss to it and Braxton pulled it himself with the slightest tug. This is not a great picture but it created a memory and made him happy and that is what is most important.

A tear of joy from my snaggle toothed Braxton.

Happy 5th Birthday Asher

On March 22 my Sweet Little Asher Turned 5!  It really doesn't seems like he could be 5.  He is only 28 lbs and his 21 month sister is doing her best to catch up to him.  Asher is a very strong willed child but also very loving. He admires his big brother and adores his little sister.  He really enjoys being outside playing with all the animals, collecting the chicken eggs, digging, swinging, riding his bike, and helping me in any way.  This was a last minute cake he requested but my favorite part of it was the little "A" he secretly drew on it.
